40th Anniversary 2012

Celebrating 40 years of Kelvedon WI

At our June 2012 meeting members and guests were offered a glass of Pimms to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

Decorated tables

The tables were decorated with ruby red covers and elegant vases of flowers.  Each wine glass held a small hand crafted gift in a red bag.

Photographs of WI events, taken over the last forty years, were shown on a large screen evoking memories for some and comments like "look at you" from others.

Raffle prizes

The colour red was also prominent in the choice of raffle prizes.

 Salmon & Ham

A light supper was served with ham, salmon, new potatoes and various salads followed by a lovely choice of desserts.

A poem written by Angela Maskery was sung to the tune of "sing a song of sixpence" by a group of members.  It covered many of the events that Kelvedon WI members have taken part in over the last forty years.

The cakes
Cutting the cakes

Sally, our President, four past-Presidents and a WI Advisor then cut the cakes.

The evening was rounded off with a very amusing sketch "Funny Business" written by Angela and performed by a few members.
