At our January meeting Barry Moulton demonstrated the art of encaustic hot wax art. The word ‘encaustic’ originates from the Greek word ‘enkaustikos’, which means to burn in, and this element of heat is necessary for a painting to be called encaustic. Encaustic art, also known as hot wax painting, is a simple but exciting process that allows everyone to be creative even if they can’t paint or draw. It involves applying heated beeswax, which includes different coloured pigments, to a surface with various different tools.
Graham Weare from The Outrageous Cake Company came to our meeting in February. He demonstrated ‘brush embroidery.’ Which is one of the techniques used in cake decorating and making outrageous cakes.
Our walk on Friday 15th May was around Stisted and here we are amongst the bluebells.
