The Walking Group
Friday the thirteenth of April 2012 was not an unlucky day for five members walking near Layer de la Haye. They enjoyed a lovely view of Abberton reservoir and new born lambs were gambolling in the fields as they continued on their monthly walk.

Outing to Brugge
A recent day trip to Brugge was part of Kelvedon WI's 40th anniversary celebrations. It was an early start for WI members together with partners and friends on July 18th 2012 and so we began our long journey. Our coach took us through the channel tunnel to France and then on to Belgium, where we had all afternoon to explore Brugge.
There were plenty of things to see and do in Brugge and after a delicious lunch, some shopping or even a boat ride it was soon time to head back to the coach pick up point. The weather was pleasantly warm and dry until we arrived back in France. At passport control the last few people to leave the coach, to have their passports checked, were faced with a heavy shower of rain. It was a long day and we arrived back in Kelvedon at about 10.30pm. tired but pleased with our adventure.
Visit to London
A small group of WI members went to London, by train, on August 23rd 2012. After coffee in the National Gallery followed by a picnic in St. James Park they made their way to Buckingham Palace where they saw a display of the Queen's diamonds.
A Trip to Maldon
It was a lovely sunny day on Tuesday 28th August 2012 when a group of members travelled by bus to Maldon. They enjoyed walking around the town, went to see the Millennium Tapestry and had a really good lunch on the quay.
On the 12th September 2012 three members joined a group of Essex WI ladies to walk the length of Southend Pier. It was a bright, blustery morning and we set a fine pace along the mile length of the pier to enjoy a lunch break. From the terrace of the cafe we had lovely views looking over the Thames estuary towards Kent - it was almost like being on a cruise!
We very lazily took the train back and then drove along to Old Leigh where we had an ice cream by the shore. It was a most enjoyable trip.
